Love this piece. It’s utterly honest and, well, beautifully written. I have been in a similar situation and all I did was to make things worse, say casting blames on others, feeling completely down, and wanting to seek revenge from those who did not lend a hand when they could. The point that resonates with me about this article is that it’s so true that people can only care so much about others. They need to take care of themselves first, so there’s only so much that they’d do to help you beyond simply listening to you and making you feel that you weren’t alone. Yet, we expect more from them and that’s when things begin to go in the direction that you’re least wanting it to go: The circle of hate, self-abuse, and unreasonable expectation.
